Lass is a singer with a voice that shines like fireworks, soaring over electro, house, ragga, and afropop beats, while also offering tender, celestial melodies that soothe the soul. His voice, elegant and unforgettable, bridges the timeless tradition of great African vocalists and the vibrant modernity of the new afrohouse scene. Born in Senegal, Lass grew up surrounded by music, watching legends like Omar Pene and Ismael Lo perform at Youssou Ndour’s club in Dakar. After recording his first singles in the studios of Daara J, he experienced a pivotal moment when he chose to stay in Senegal while many young people from his village left by boat for Europe a decision made because one of his songs had just started playing on the radio.

Though it wasn't a major hit, it marked the beginning of his destiny. Years later, life and love brought him to Europe. In Lyon, he briefly considered giving up music to pursue a "serious job," but his artistic spirit prevailed. He soon became a key figure in Bruno Patchwork’s Voilaaa project and performed in front of tens of thousands with the French electro duo Synapson, notably on the singles "Souba" (over 4 million streams) and "Toujours" featuring Tim Dup. In 2021, his intimate guitar-and-voice performances caught the attention of outlets like RFI and Radio Nova. His debut single "Yaco Mome," produced by Patchwork and directed by Raphaël D’Hervez, was released in June 2021, followed by the breakout track "Mo Yaro," which received international radio support. His first EP, released in October 2021, blended acoustic traditions with digital sounds, with the single "Mero Pertoulo" entering France Inter’s playlist.

Lass toured in a stripped-down setup, letting his incredible voice take center stage. In June 2022, he released his debut album "Bumayé," named after the famous chant from Muhammad Ali’s 1974 fight in Kinshasa, capturing over thirty years of musical journey. The album features Afro-Cuban melodies from his youth and modern beats from young producers, with guest appearances by Flavia Coelho and Patrice. In 2023, Lass returned to the studio for his second album, "Passeport," a deeper and more melancholic record, while keeping the lively afrobeats spirit alive. Featuring collaborations with David Walters, Cuban pianist Roberto Fonseca, and the brass section of Cotonete, "Passeport" was released on April 19, 2024, and has been hailed as one of the most anticipated albums of the year by Télérama and Radio Nova. After his headline show in Paris at Café de la Danse on May 23, Lass is set to hit the road again this summer.
